Full Breakdown
South Jordan City Code chapter 5.60 makes it a class B misdemeanor to sell fireworks from an unlicensed retail outlet (§5.60.020). To get a license, a stand must be of temporary construction under 200 square feet with two outward-opening doors, and must sit at least 100 feet from any school, healthcare institution, church, gas station or flammable-liquid site; 50 feet from any other building; 100 feet from another fireworks stand; and 20 feet from a property boundary absent the neighbor's written consent (§5.60.030). Stands also need two rated fire extinguishers, fire marshal approval of storage, insurance, and a pre-opening city inspection.
Violations & Fines
Selling fireworks without a license is a separate class B misdemeanor for the outlet owner and each salesperson, charged per sale to a customer; the license can also be revoked for noncompliance.
