TMC Chapter 7.84 prohibits the sale, possession, use, or explosion of fireworks in Tigard except as authorized by ORS 480.120-480.124. Legal fireworks are only allowed July 3, July 4, and the Friday-Saturday closest to July 4, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Violations carry a $1,000 presumptive fine.
TMC Chapter 7.84 makes it unlawful in Tigard to sell, possess, use, or explode fireworks unless authorized under ORS 480.120-480.124. Legal Oregon consumer fireworks are limited to non-aerial, non-explosive devices: novelty items, sparklers, fountains, smoke devices, and ground spinners. Aerial fireworks, bottle rockets, firecrackers, and Roman candles are illegal everywhere in Oregon. Even legal devices may be used only on July 3, July 4, and the Friday and Saturday closest to July 4, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Outside that window all firework use is prohibited. The Oregon retail-sale season runs June 23 through July 6 at licensed temporary stands. Tigard relies on TVF&R and Tigard Police for enforcement.
Use or sale outside the allowed window, or any illegal aerial device, is enforced by Tigard Police and TVF&R. The presumptive fine is $1,000 per offense. Owners may also be liable under ORS 480.165 for fires.
