Waynesville, MO Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Section 210.040 of the Waynesville Municipal Code, amended by Ordinance No. 2097 on May 5, 2014, makes it unlawful to discharge fireworks anywhere in the City of Waynesville except during a three-day window: July 3rd, 4th and 5th of each year, and only between 8:00 A.M. and 10:00 P.M. prevailing local time. Even inside that window, discharge is limited to three kinds of ground: privately owned property with the consent of both the owner and the occupant, Laughlin Park, or the portion of Waynesville City Park that is not occupied by the Water Spray Pad, playground or other park facilities and structures.

The city reserves the right to add further restrictions on fireworks discharge inside those two City Parks whenever it deems them proper, so a resident planning a park fireworks display should check with the Park Board or City Administrator before assuming the general window applies unchanged. A person under the age of fourteen may set off fireworks only if someone over twenty-one is physically present and actively supervising the discharge; without that supervision, a minor's use is unlawful even on the permitted days. Outside that three-day, two-location window, no person may discharge fireworks of any kind or description within the city, which functions as a year-round ban outside the July 3rd-5th exception.

The Mayor also holds standing authority under the section's Emergency Proclamation clause to suspend fireworks discharge citywide, including during the July window, when conditions such as high winds or drought make discharge hazardous, so a burn ban or drought declaration can override the calendar dates entirely.
