Appendix A's Tiny House article, adopted by Ordinance No. 508 on July 2, 2024, sets design standards for pocket-neighborhood Tiny House developments in Section 13-3. l requires that smoke alarms be present in each sleeping room and outside the sleeping room in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms, citing IRC Section R314, the International Residential Code provision on smoke alarm placement. The requirement sits alongside a run of other life-safety and habitability standards drawn from the same code: an emergency escape window in every sleeping room, hot and cold water, an approved heating system, and a structural load path anchored to the foundation.

This provision reaches only Tiny House units built under Article 13's pocket-neighborhood standard; the Town Code has no separate, freestanding smoke-alarm mandate stated for other single-family homes, duplexes, or manufactured housing outside that article. o folds in the rest of the International Residential Code as a catch-all, so a Tiny House unit's smoke alarm placement, wiring, and interconnection ultimately has to satisfy whatever version of the IRC the Town has adopted for building permits generally, not just the single sentence in Section 13-3.
