Omaha, NE Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Section 11-333 makes it unlawful to sell or offer food as a mobile food vendor without a valid, active license issued by the director of public works under Article X. To get one, section 11-334 requires a signed application listing the business name and contact information, all officers if the applicant is a corporation or partnership, the license numbers and descriptions of every vehicle used to sell food, the drivers, the general type of food sold, Douglas County Health Department approval documentation, a Nebraska sales tax permit or exemption proof, and a description of anticipated selling locations.

Section 11-335 lets the director deny an application for incompleteness, unpaid fees, noncompliance with Chapter 11, or three or more convictions under the article within the prior 12 months. 00 if the vendor primarily operates within a business improvement district in the CBD zone (that surcharge is forwarded to the district for cleaning and security costs). 00 per vehicle, trailer, cart or piece of mobile equipment, plus the same CBD surcharge if applicable, under section 11-337. seven days a week, with the police chief able to further restrict hours in the Old Market District for up to 30 consecutive days on safety grounds; vendors must carry liability insurance, maintain fire suppression equipment, never sell alcohol, display their business name, provide trash receptacles and police litter within 20 feet of their spot, and skip freestanding signs, tables or generators beyond one identification sign and one non-seating table.
