Omaha, NE Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

Omaha's street-vendor ordinance, City Code § 20-8, makes it unlawful to sell fruit, vegetables, nuts, candy, popcorn, or lunch from a wagon, push cart, booth, stall, stand, platform, or vending machine on a city street unless the food is in a box or container securely covered with glass or similar covering to keep out dust. Displayed goods on a booth or stand must sit at least two feet above the street or sidewalk surface. Cart and stand operators also qualify as "peddlers" under § 19-89, which requires a Planning Department permit, a police background check, a $10,000 corporate surety bond for any stand maintained on a sidewalk or other city property, and written consent from the abutting property owner.
