Prescott Valley, AZ Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Section 13-08-050 of the Prescott Valley Town Code, rewritten by Ordinance No 2024-947 on 12/11/2024, governs every mobile food vendor. The Code defines a mobile food unit as a food establishment licensed by the State of Arizona that is readily movable and dispenses food or beverages for immediate service from a vehicle, so the state license is the starting point and the Town layers its own conditions on top.

On Town property, a vendor can only operate in a legal parking space. To use any other Town property, the vendor must obtain either a separate licensing for use, services contract or similar agreement, which the Town enters into at its sole discretion, or a special event permit or similar permission under the Town Code. On private property, the vendor must hold written permission from the owner and show proof of it on request by the Town.

Fire and safety come next. Every mobile food unit must comply with the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) Fire Protection Development Standards, state law and the Town Code. Each unit is inspected by CAFMA, or the vendor provides evidence that the unit passed a fire inspection by another city or town fire department in Arizona within the preceding 12 months.

A vendor who operates at a Town-sponsored event or on public property, including rights-of-way, must carry insurance naming the Town as an additional insured, written by a company authorized to issue commercial liability policies in Arizona by the Arizona Department of Insurance. The policy must list each mobile food unit by serial or identification number. Operating conditions also include at least one 15-gallon trash receptacle within 15 feet of each unit, a litter-free surrounding area, and noise within the standards of Town Code Section 10-01-070.
