Simi Valley, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

080(I)(9) sets the permit path for mobile food vendors operating on private, non-residential property. A Temporary Use Permit is required for each location and is good for no more than 12 months per Subsection (c); the vendor must reapply once it expires. Subsection (g) layers on additional requirements: notarized written consent from the property owner allowing the specific operation and duration, a Ventura County Health Department permit for the vehicle as a Mobile Food Facility Type 1 through Type 4, and a City Business Tax Certificate submitted with the TUP application.

m. m. Monday through Thursday, citing SVMC Chapter 5-16, and the truck, tables, chairs, and equipment must be removed from the site outside those hours. Subsection (a) caps the vending and display footprint at 800 square feet of parking area, bars encroachment into accessible paths, setbacks, loading zones, drive-through lanes, driveways, fuel-pump queuing, or landscaped planters, and requires at least four feet of clearance around the vehicle for pedestrians. One sign up to 12 square feet may be attached to the vehicle; free-standing signs are not allowed, amplified music is prohibited, and any nighttime lighting has to comply with the City's exterior lighting standards.

The Director can revoke the permit and bar the vendor from future mobile food TUPs on a substantiated complaint or a violation of the permit's conditions.
