Wylie, TX Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Under Sec. 5.2.F.28 of the Zoning Ordinance, a Food Truck Park/Farmers Market is a permanent site for mobile food units, cart vendors and locally sourced goods, and it comes with its own permit conditions: every mobile food unit and vendor stall must provide a trash receptacle, must carry fire prevention tools required by the Wylie Fire Department, must hold a food or health permit at the time of operation, and must have the applicable food and sales tax permits. If the park sits within 500 feet of a residential or mixed-use district, its hours of operation become part of the required Special Use Permit conditions, and the site itself must provide commercial water and electric service and at least one permanent restroom within 500 feet of any stall.

Layered on top of that zoning permit, Appendix A's Fire Department fee schedule separately charges a $25.00 annual fee for Mobile Food Preparation Vehicles, citing International Fire Code 2021 Sec. 105.5.32, so a mobile food operator working out of a Wylie food truck park is paying for both the zoning-based food/health permit and the annual fire permit. Alcohol sales from the park follow the same rules that apply to restaurants or beer and wine package stores, and the underlying land use itself typically requires Special Use Permit approval in the applicable zoning district under the city's use charts.
