Medina, OH Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

Medina does not issue a sidewalk food-vending permit. 04(c) of the Codified Ordinances, part of the General Offenses Code's sidewalk-obstruction rule, controls what a vendor can leave on the pavement. The section bars placing, depositing or maintaining any merchandise, goods, material or equipment on a sidewalk so as to obstruct pedestrian traffic, and allows an obstruction only for the reasonable time actually necessary for the delivery or pickup of such articles, capped at one hour. A food cart, folding table or cooler set up to sell to passers-by is exactly the kind of standing display the section targets, because it sits on the sidewalk to attract sales rather than to load or unload briefly.

04: dropping tacks, glass or wire on a sidewalk or playground in subsection (a), damaging soft or newly laid pavement in subsection (b), and hauling heavy merchandise across a sidewalk without protecting the pavement in subsection (d).
