Taylorsville, UT Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

Section 13.11.170(B) governs mobile food businesses and street vendors operating in Taylorsville's public right-of-way, and two of its sidewalk-specific requirements sit apart from the general permitting rules. Subsection B(4)(e) requires the operator to locate the vending window facing the sidewalk or toward private property, unless the roadway itself has been closed to vehicular traffic for a public event, so a truck cannot serve customers by turning its window into the travel lane. Subsection B(6) then protects pedestrian movement directly: the business must ensure its use of the right-of-way, including the sidewalk, never interferes with or limits sidewalk users' free and unobstructed passage, and the vendor must maintain a clear, continuous sidewalk width of no less than four feet at all times.

Subsection B(7) layers on distance buffers that further shape where a cart or truck can even park: at least ten feet from any fire hydrant, bus or transit stop, curb cut, or other mobile food business, one stall or ten feet from any handicap parking space or access ramp, and thirty feet from any intersection or driveway. Subsection B(4)(c) bars parking on a sidewalk, park strip, or other landscaped area outright, and subsection B(4)(g) prohibits selling to anyone standing in the roadway unless it has been closed for a public event. Together these rules keep the pedestrian path of travel open even while a licensed vendor operates directly on or beside a public sidewalk.
