Kyle, TX Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Under City Code Section 11-176, food truck courts in the City of Kyle are a permitted use only in the RS Retail Services, CBD-1 and CBD-2 Central Business, and E Entertainment zoning districts; any other commercial district needs a conditional use permit under Chapter 53, Article VI. Food truck courts are capped at one truck per 2,000 square feet, each truck must sit at least 20 feet from a permanent structure, and pad sites need at least ten feet between them. A stand-alone food truck operation site outside a court is capped the same way, one truck per 2,000 square feet, and must stay at least 100 feet from any single-family or duplex residential property unless every property owner within that 100-foot buffer gives unanimous written consent.

Both food truck courts and operation sites are barred from the public rights-of-way and may only operate on private property, and every part of a truck and its operation site must sit within 150 feet of a dedicated fire lane easement or public street, as determined by the fire marshal. Food truck courts may sell between 7:00 a.m. and midnight, but must close to the public by 10:00 p.m. if located within 300 feet of residential zoning or uses; stand-alone operation sites may sell only between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and no amplified sound is allowed after 10:00 p.m. at either.

Section 11-176 also bars sales of tobacco, alcohol, sexually explicit or drug-related items, real estate, and off-site event tickets at both court and operation site locations.
