Lakeville, MN Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 3-23-4(A) of the Lakeville City Code confines mobile food unit vending within the C-CBD, Commercial Central Business District, to two settings: private or public parking lots where the property owner has given written consent, and the stretch of Upper 208th Street and 209th Street between Holyoke and Howland Avenues, where the truck's service window must face the sidewalk and the unit must sit at least thirty feet from any street intersection. Outside the C-CBD, the same chapter's citywide performance standards still apply: section 3-23-4(B) limits operating hours to between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., section 3-23-4(C) bars interference with vehicle, pedestrian or emergency access, and section 3-23-4(D) requires the lot or street to have adequate parking for both the unit and the property's other parking needs.

Drive-through service is prohibited under section 3-23-4(E), outdoor sound equipment, televisions, bells, horns and similar noisemakers are barred under section 3-23-4(G), and any independent generator must be screened from public view under section 3-23-4(I). Waste, garbage and litter must stay in leakproof, covered containers and may never be dumped into a sidewalk, street, gutter or storm drain, and every unit must pass a City fire official's inspection before operating and comply with signage rules under Title 11, Chapter 23. Once a mobile food unit clears the license requirements in section 3-23-3, its owner must still keep its approved license prominently displayed on the vehicle for the duration of the event under section 3-23-4(K).
