Livonia does not designate formal food truck vending zones on public streets. Vending is limited to private commercial lots with owner consent and to permitted city special events in parks.
Unlike Detroit and some nearby communities with formal downtown food truck zones, Livonia does not operate a designated public-right-of-way vending program. The predominant pattern is vendors setting up on private commercial property such as the Laurel Park Place area, Schoolcraft College lots, corporate office parks along Victor Parkway, and brewery or taproom lots. Each such arrangement requires the property owners written consent, and the vendor must hold all required licenses as described in the food truck permit entry. Public special events in Ford Field Park, Greenmead Historical Park, and during the Livonia Spree or similar festivals may feature vetted food vendors approved by the Community Resources Department. Vendors should apply early for event slots, as limited spaces are allocated by the event coordinator. Ice cream trucks operating roving routes are a separate category with their own Michigan and city requirements including background checks for drivers serving children.
