Livonia allows RV and boat storage in residential driveways or side yards behind the front building line, but not on public streets. Units cannot be used as living quarters while parked on private property.
Chapter 15 (Zoning Ordinance) of the Livonia City Code regulates the storage of recreational vehicles, travel trailers, boats, and utility trailers in residential districts. A single RV or boat may be stored on a residential lot if placed on an approved hard surface located behind the front building line of the principal structure or within the rear yard, and it may not extend into the public right-of-way. Units stored in side yards must be screened where visible from adjacent property. RVs and trailers may not be used as dwellings, offices, or places of business while parked on a residential lot, and on-street RV parking is limited to short loading and unloading periods, typically 48 hours or less. Commercial vehicle storage in residential zones is separately prohibited under the city zoning code.
