Lynwood, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 13-7.10(a) lists thirty-four prohibited vending locations, covering nearly every conflict point a sidewalk cart could create. Vendors must stay off medians, parkways without paved paths, and any public property other than a sidewalk; they must keep fifteen feet from intersections, traffic signals and emergency call boxes, ten feet from driveways, and two hundred feet from any other sidewalk vendor. Five-hundred-foot buffers apply near an active place of worship, child care facility or school, and around the Civic Center, a backup city emergency operations center, or an area covered by an active temporary special permit. Smaller buffers of twenty-five to one hundred feet protect bus stops, litter receptacles, business doorways during open hours, ATMs, and Los Angeles County sheriff or fire personnel on duty. Stationary vendors face additional limits: they cannot set up on a sidewalk narrower than eight feet, in areas zoned exclusively residential or within two hundred feet of such a zone, or in a city park under an exclusive concession agreement.

Hours are restricted too under § 13-7.10(c): vending runs 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. generally, but only 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends in residential areas, and only during posted park hours inside a park. A commercial vending vehicle, such as an ice cream truck, follows a separate location rule under § 13-7.11: it cannot stop for more than thirty minutes in one spot, must move at least a half mile before returning within three hours, and cannot park within five hundred feet of a school or park or two hundred feet of another vending vehicle.
