Ridgefield, CT Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 274-3(A) of the Peddling and Soliciting chapter states flatly that no mobile food service operation shall be permitted in any business zone as set forth in the Zoning Regulations, except as the rest of the article expressly allows. Subsection (B) then lists the only ways a truck, cart or stand can legally operate: vehicles that never park in the same spot for more than 15 minutes; operations on property under the Parks and Recreation Department's jurisdiction, or the public street next to it, for Department-authorized events; one operation on the sidewalk adjacent to a single named Main Street parcel, Parcel/Tax Assessor's ID E15-0175 (456 Main Street/Route 35); one operation in the pull-off on the westerly side of Ethan Allen Highway (Route 7), roughly opposite 296 Ethan Allen Highway across the line in Redding; and operations accessory to a brewery or winery, which must sit on the same property as the primary use and run only during the primary use's hours, though more than one truck permit may be issued to a single brewery or winery.

Every one of these carve-outs still needs state approval where the state requires it, and every permit issued is tied to its specific location, meaning a permit for the Main Street sidewalk spot or the Route 7 pull-off does not authorize operating anywhere else in Town.
