Wyoming, MI Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 90-331 of the Wyoming Zoning Ordinance sets the location and operating standards for mobile food vendors citywide. Trucks may operate 'in all Commercial and Industrial Zone Districts; commercial areas of planned unit developments; and other locations where permitted with limitations,' which excludes residential districts as a base rule. m. Distance rules protect brick-and-mortar competitors and sensitive uses: operations must sit at least 200 feet from any permanent restaurant lawfully operating when the permit or renewal was issued, at least 200 feet from any K-12 school, and at least 50 feet from any residential zoning district.

Vendors must operate on paved lots without eating into required parking for the site's other uses, cannot block motorist visibility, parking circulation, a public street, alley, fire hydrant or sidewalk, and can only prepare food outside the truck if it's on an attached grill or smoker. Signs must be permanently mounted on or painted on the unit, not projecting outward, and the operator must handle daily trash disposal. A truck cannot be stored overnight on an operations site, but it can be stored at a partner brick-and-mortar restaurant's property if the operator holds an active Mobile Food Vending License and stores it in the rear yard.
