Greece, NY Gambling & Gaming: Charitable Bingo and Raffles (2026)

The Town Board adopted its own Bingo Law (Ch. L. No. 1-2009) under General Municipal Law Article 14-H and Executive Law Article 19-B, and a companion Games of Chance Law (Ch. L. No. 1-2009) under GML Article 9-A. Both chapters let an "authorized organization" conduct the games only after it obtains the required license; unlicensed operators cannot run either activity in Greece. Under § 62-1, no bingo hall lease can be paid as a percentage of receipts, all net proceeds must go to the organization's lawful purposes, and only a bona fide member may manage or operate a game (no paid staff).

Prize limits are hard caps: no single bingo prize over $1,000, and no series of prizes on one occasion totaling more than $3,000. Games of chance conducted under Chapter 123 follow Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law and the rules of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, and Sunday play is expressly authorized under § 123-5(B) except where Article 9-A itself says otherwise. Neither chapter creates a Town gaming board; licensing runs through the state process referenced in each chapter, with the Town Clerk's office administering the local license.
