Coral Gables, FL Garage & Yard Sales: Frequency, Duration & Permits (2026)

Under Zoning Code Section 3-604, garage sales are a temporary use allowed only at residences, duplexes and apartments, and only after the owner or lessee obtains a permit from the City's License Division. The application must list the property's legal description, proof of ownership or lease, the sale date(s) and hour(s), and a sample of the sign to be used. Sales are limited to 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., no more than two consecutive days, and no more than two sales per property per calendar year, spaced at least 30 days apart. Only personal household property owned by the seller may be sold, displayed within setbacks, and one sign of up to 40 square inches (set back at least 5 feet from front or side lot lines) is allowed. The permit must be displayed at the front of the building and shown to any Code Enforcement Officer on request.
