Doral, FL Garage & Yard Sales: Frequency, Duration & Permits (2026)

Section 35-130 of the City Code defines a garage sale as the sale of personal property at the property where the sale occurs, covering what residents also call a lawn sale, yard sale, estate sale or rummage sale. Subsection (b) limits each single-family homeowner, multifamily residence building, or qualifying charitable, civic, educational or religious organization to two garage sales per calendar year. Subsection (c) restricts sales to daylight hours, and subsection (d) caps each sale at 48 hours on a single lot, extending to a third day only when the sale falls on a holiday weekend.

There is no fee for the required permit, but the application must reach the planning and zoning department at least two weeks before the sale date and must include the seller's name, sale location, sale dates, dates of any garage sales at the same address in the prior 12 months, a description of the merchandise, proof of residence, and written HOA approval where applicable. The permit must be displayed on-site while the sale runs. Merchandise must have been previously used or crafted, not sourced from a business, and can be displayed only in the garage, carport, driveway or yard, never on the public right-of-way or swale, and must be cleared away at the end of each sale day.

Temporary signage must follow chapter 80's sign standards and cannot go up in the public right-of-way. Through traffic on public or private roads cannot be blocked, and sale-goers' vehicles cannot obstruct neighbors' driveways.
