Kyle, TX Garage & Yard Sales: Frequency, Duration & Permits (2026)

Under City Code Section 11-243, a residential lot in the City of Kyle may hold no more than one continuous sale and one garage sale, or two garage sales, within any consecutive 12 calendar months. A garage sale cannot run within five days immediately before or after a continuous sale held on the same lot, and no single garage sale may last more than two consecutive days. Sales must run between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and no outdoor sales are allowed in a residential area outside a qualifying garage or continuous sale.

Section 11-242 separately caps a continuous sale to one per calendar year, running no longer than five consecutive days. Section 11-244 bars any continuous, outdoor, or garage sale on a lot without an occupied building, and Section 11-245 requires sellers to move unsold goods indoors or behind a solid wood or masonry fence at least six feet tall by the end of the sale, bans display on sidewalks except during a city-permitted festival or special event, and bans storing goods within 25 feet of the property line unless screened by that same six-foot fence.

Section 11-241 sets the general penalty for the article at up to $500.00, with each day of violation a separate offense, and Section 11-247 makes clear no culpable mental state is required to prove a violation.
