Village Code § 18-3-3 caps garage, yard, lawn, attic, porch, room, backyard, patio, flea-market and rummage sales, however they're labeled, at no more than two per calendar year for members of one residence or family household. If members of more than one residence team up to hold a joint sale, the Village still counts that joint sale as one sale against each participating residence's own two-per-year allowance, so pooling addresses does not create extra sales for anyone involved. Section 18-3-4 then limits how long each of those two permitted sales can run: no more than the daylight hours of three consecutive days.

There is no separate permit or fee required to hold a garage sale under this Article, but the sale is defined broadly. Section 18-3-1 sweeps in any general sale open to the public and conducted from a residential premises to dispose of personal property, covering sales called 'garage,' 'lawn,' 'yard,' 'attic,' 'porch,' 'room,' 'backyard,' 'patio,' 'flea market' or 'rummage' sales alike; only a sale of five or fewer specifically named items is carved out of the definition entirely. Only personal property, meaning items the household actually owns, uses and acquired in the normal course of living there, can be sold; merchandise bought for resale or held on consignment does not qualify under § 18-3-2. 00.
