Oak Park, IL Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

Section 15-3-15, Parking Enclaves, lets the Board of Trustees establish 'all night permit parking enclaves within the dedicated right of way of public streets' if the location meets four criteria: curb cut and cul de sac enclaves must be separated from normal traffic flow, or sit adjacent to the Chicago and Northwestern or Eisenhower Expressway embankments where snow and leaf removal is less disrupted; the enclave cannot substantially hurt police protection; it must sit in or near the Village's severest parking shortage areas; and curb cut enclaves are barred if they would substantially harm grassed parkways.

All-night parking in an enclave is permit-only, on a monthly basis, and every permitted vehicle must display a police-identifiable sticker. , adjustable by Board resolution for a given enclave's needs, and restricts eligibility to 'persons residing within four (4) blocks of the parking area designated,' with priority given to the closest residents. I prices those permits by demand zone: outside the high-demand area, resident quarterly rates run from $152 for overnight-only up to $222 for twenty-four hour access, nonresidents pay $192 to $282, and licensed-business corporate accounts buying at least five permits per quarter pay the resident rate.

The Chief of Police and Director of Public Works must report to the Board every July 1 on how the enclaves are affecting police protection and street cleaning under section 15-3-17.
