Oak Park, IL Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 15-1-16 makes it unlawful to park in a posted prohibited parking zone, to remain in a limited parking zone longer than the time shown on Village signage, or to park on private property without the owner's consent, including any parking lot that is not licensed under Chapter 8. Section 15-1-19, Miscellaneous Parking Offenses, lists specific street violations: blocking a driveway (A), stopping on or across a sidewalk (B), parking in an intersection or crosswalk (C), stopping in a viaduct (D), parking within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant (E), sitting in a bus stop, loading zone, or cabstand (F), parking under a fire escape (G), driving or parking the wrong way on a one-way street (H), parking on a two-way street with the driver's side nearest the curb (I), backing into a stall in a Village lot (J), and stopping more than twelve inches from the curb (K).

' Double parking (O) and parking in an area reserved for loading and unloading children (P) round out the list, and any bus parked or standing longer than fifteen minutes must shut off its engine (Q). These offenses trace back to the 1981 Code and were most recently amended by Ordinance 25-178 on September 16, 2025.
