M. A motor vehicle is not a “truck or commercial vehicle” for the purposes of this Subsection if: 1. The vehicle is powered solely by a battery-electric (BEV) or plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) propulsion system and is registered in Illinois as a passenger vehicle or private truck with a Class C or Class D plate solely due to battery weight. ... ... 3. The curb weight of the vehicle does not exceed 9,500 pounds.

The Village may demand proof of vehicle type, registration, and curb weight to confirm eligibility for that exemption, and an exempted vehicle must still comply with all other posted parking rules, including permits, time limits, and seasonal restrictions.
