Oak Lawn, IL Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Village Code section 11-5-6(C) prohibits parking a vehicle exceeding 10,000 pounds (vehicle weight plus maximum load capacity), or longer than 21 feet, wider than 8 feet, or taller than 9 feet, on any Village street or alley overnight between 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. The code lists box trucks, cube vans, delivery trucks, dump trucks, school buses, transit buses, truck tractors, and tow trucks as examples. The overnight ban also reaches residential front, rear, and side setbacks (including driveways), commercial lots outside loading docks, and vacant parcels, so moving the vehicle off-street does not avoid it. A narrow carve-out lets a resident-owned passenger vehicle carrying 12 or fewer family members park close to home.
