Oak Lawn, IL Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

At such time as there is an accumulation of one inch (1") or more of snow on the ground in the village, it shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to park such vehicle or for the owner of any vehicle to permit such vehicle to be parked on a west or north side of any street (even house numbers) on any even numbered day of the month, and on the south or east side of any such street (odd house numbers) on any odd numbered day of the month during the hours of six o'clock (6:00) A.M. through three o'clock (3:00) A.M. Provided, however, the provisions of this subsection shall not apply to those streets presently designated "snow thoroughfares". The municipal forces will remove snow from the odd numbered side of the street (south or east side) on the odd numbered calendar days, and will remove snow from the even numbered side of the street (north or west side) on even numbered calendar days.

C.   Removal Of Snow From Driveways, Sidewalks: No person, in cleaning snow from private lots, parking areas, driveways, filling stations, garages or other large areas, shall pile or redistribute such snow on any street, alley or sidewalk which in any way tends to narrow or restrict the traveled portion of the street, sidewalk or alley, block the vision of motorists at an intersection, prevent parking at a curb, or in any way impede snow removal or create a traffic hazard. Sidewalks in business districts are to be kept clean by the abutting property owners.
