01 of the Village Code lists the places where stopping, standing or parking is banned outright unless the driver is avoiding a traffic conflict or following a police officer's direction. Subsection (A)(1) forbids parking on the roadway side of another vehicle already at the curb, in an intersection, on a crosswalk, on a sidewalk or parkway, on a railroad track, and in front of stacked mailboxes serving four or more households. Subsection (A)(2) separately bans standing or parking, except momentarily to load or unload passengers, in front of any public or private driveway, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, and within 20 to 75 feet of a fire station driveway depending on which side of the street.

Blocking a railroad track carries its own mandatory penalty: a $500 fine or 50 hours of community service under (A)(1)(h). 04: vehicles must park parallel to the curb, within 12 inches of it, with the two right wheels closest to the curb, meaning parking with the driver's side against the curb, facing oncoming traffic, is illegal except on streets posted one-way.
