Tinley Park, IL Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Adopted by Ord. 2024-O-053 on November 6, 2024, Chapter 83, "Electric Motor Vehicles," governs village-owned charging stations and adjacent EV parking stalls. 03(A)(1) limits use of a village-owned charging station and its stall to electric vehicles for no more than three hours of continuous charging per day, requires the vehicle to connect within 15 minutes of parking, and bars any vehicle from remaining parked at the station or stall longer than eight hours total. 03(A)(2) makes it unlawful to occupy an EV-designated stall without connecting within that 15-minute window, and separately unlawful for any non-electric vehicle to park in a stall reserved for a village-owned charging station; the village may notify police and have the vehicle towed under Title IX, Chapter 90, citing 625 ILCS 5/11-1308.

40 per kilowatt-hour for the first three hours, plus a flat $5 fee for each additional hour, with rates subject to change by posted notice at the station, Village Hall, and the village website. Vehicles charging in a commuter parking lot stall are exempt from the lot's normal parking fee while connected, but must pay if they move to a different, non-charging stall. 03(B) mandate posted voltage/amperage, time limits, usage fees, user instructions, and a liability disclaimer at every EV station.
