Springfield's Home Occupation standards cap on-site customer traffic at two people under § 1107.05(h)(10): no more than two persons may avail themselves of the services provided by a Home Occupation at any one time, regardless of how many clients the business serves over the course of a day. That two-person ceiling applies to walk-in or scheduled visits of any kind tied to a Home Occupation operating solely within the dwelling unit or an accessory building under § 1107.05(h)(1). The Zoning Code carves out a single, narrower exception for instructional uses.

Classes offering generalized or specialized private instruction may serve more students, up to a maximum of 10 individuals, but only if the class itself is first authorized as a conditional use by the Board of Zoning Appeals; without that separate conditional use approval, the standard two-person cap controls even for an instructional Home Occupation. Any Home Occupation, whether capped at two visitors or approved for up to 10 students, still needs the zoning certificate required by § 1107.05(h)(12) before opening, and the operator must also keep the use from generating noise, vibration, or odor beyond the dwelling's lot lines under § 1107.05(h)(7). The Community Development Director can inspect the property on occasion to confirm the visitor count and other Home Occupation standards are being followed.
