Warren's Zoning Ordinance folds its home-business sign limit into the definition of 'home occupation' itself rather than into the separate sign article. ' That single clause sets three separate limits at once: only one sign is allowed, it cannot be illuminated, and it cannot exceed one square foot, roughly the size of a standard notebook page. The sign must be mounted at the building entrance, not freestanding in the yard, on a fence, or in a window. 29 definition is no longer a permitted accessory use in a residential district.

This is a tighter allowance than Warren gives other residential accessory signs elsewhere in the ordinance, such as the four-square-foot garage sale sign or the four-square-foot opinion sign permitted per residence; a home business nameplate gets a quarter of that area and must stay unlit. Homeowners who want a larger or lit sign for a home-based business would need to seek a use that qualifies under a different, non-residential zoning classification rather than the home occupation exemption.
