Macomb County has no countywide loading-zone ordinance for residential streets; loading zones are set and enforced by each city and township. State law MCL 257.674 governs loading: buses may stop to load passengers even at certain restricted spots, and any vehicle is barred where a sign prohibits parking.
Loading zones on Macomb County streets are created and enforced by each municipality, not a countywide ordinance. Under MCL 257.674(3), a bus taking on or discharging passengers may stop even in front of a driveway, near a hydrant, or near a crosswalk, and may use a legally designated bus loading zone; but MCL 257.674(1)(n) still bars any vehicle from parking where a sign prohibits it, which is how posted loading zones are enforced. On county grounds, the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in Mount Clemens and park facilities follow posted signs and staff direction. Metroparks Rule 9 keeps vehicles in designated spaces, so loading outside marked areas is barred on park grounds.
Loading-zone violations are civil infractions under MCL 257.674 and local ordinance, enforced by the municipality or the Sheriff; the county's 42-1 District Court lists a $25.00 parking fine. Blocking a fire lane or disabled aisle carries higher penalties.
