Lynwood Municipal Code Article 95 (25-95-1 to 25-95-8) allows home occupations in residential zones only where the business stays incidental to the residential use and preserves neighborhood character. No more than 500 square feet may be used, only residents may work there, and only listed occupations are permitted.
Under LMC 25-95-5, a home occupation must be incidental to the residential use and not detract from the neighborhood's residential character. No more than 500 square feet of the dwelling may be used for the occupation or related storage, only individuals permanently residing on the premises may be employed, and there may be no exterior indication, outdoor storage, or display of materials. Visitors, customers, or deliveries may not exceed five trips per day, and the activity may not produce noxious matter, vibration, glare, dust, or noise beyond the lot line. LMC 25-95-2 lists permitted occupations (architectural services, computer programming, catering with one vehicle, home crafts, and similar); anything not listed or approved is prohibited.
Operating an unlisted home occupation, using more than 500 square feet, employing non-residents, or exceeding five customer trips per day violates Article 95. Violations are infractions fined up to $100 per offense (LMC 25-95-8).
