Lynwood prohibits any exterior sign for a home occupation. Under LMC 25-95-5, there may be no signs, banners, or flags displayed that are visible from outside the dwelling, no exterior indication of the business at all, and no advertising in any media that contains the property address.
LMC 25-95-5(F) states there shall be no signs, banners, or flags displayed which would be visible from outside the dwelling unit. Section 25-95-5(D) adds that there shall be no exterior indication of the home occupation or variation from the residential character of the principal building, and 25-95-5(E) bars exterior operations, storage, or display of materials. Section 25-95-5(J) further prohibits placing any advertisement in any media containing the address of the property. In short, a Lynwood home occupation must be invisible from the street: no business signage, window signs, banners, or flags. Signage for permitted commercial districts is governed separately by Article 70 of the zoning code and does not extend to residential home occupations.
Posting any home-occupation sign, banner, or flag visible from outside, or advertising the property address, violates LMC 25-95-5. It is an infraction fined up to $100 per offense (25-95-8). Code Enforcement may order removal.
