Full Breakdown

Temple Terrace Land Development Code sets standard home occupation criteria: no more than 25% of dwelling used for the business, no non-resident employees on site, no outside storage of materials or equipment, no deliveries beyond normal residential UPS/USPS/FedEx volume, and no signage visible from outside. FL §559.955 (2021) preempts overly restrictive home-business bans - cities cannot prohibit home-based businesses that meet general residential criteria. BTR (Business Tax Receipt) required annually; Hillsborough County also requires a county BTR.

Violations & Fines

Operating without BTR: fines $100-$500 and back taxes. Zoning violation from neighbor complaints: Special Magistrate hearing up to $500/day.
