West Palm Beach allows home occupations in all residential zoning districts under City Code Β§94 with a Home Occupation registration. The business must be clearly incidental to the residential use and not change the residential character of the property.
Permitted home occupations include professional services, tutoring, online retail, and consulting. Activities involving heavy equipment, retail walk-in customers, hazardous materials, vehicle repair, or more than one non-resident employee are prohibited. Outdoor storage of business materials, equipment, or inventory is not allowed. Cottage food operations under FL Β§500.80 are protected and need no city home occupation registration but must still comply with zoning use limits.
Operating without registration or beyond permitted scope: $250-$500 fines, business license revocation, and Special Magistrate enforcement.
