Pompano Beach residents may install rain barrels and cisterns without a city permit. The SFWMD promotes water conservation including rainwater collection. HOA restrictions on rain barrels are limited by FL Statute 163.04. Collected rainwater may be used for irrigation and non-potable purposes. No special fees or registration is required. Rainwater systems must not create mosquito breeding conditions (standing water must be properly screened).
