Fitchburg City Code § 68-237, adopted by Ordinance No. 2023-O-22 effective January 10, 2024, sits in Chapter 68's Article IV parking division alongside the city's other blanket parking prohibitions: no stopping in a fire hydrant buffer under § 68-234, no parking within 30 feet of a traffic calming device under § 68-233, and no parking in a designated bus stop under § 68-235. Section 68-237 adds marked bicycle lanes to that list in a single sentence with no exceptions for loading, hazard flashers, or brief stops, unlike the bus-stop rule that carves out momentary passenger loading.

Because the provision covers 'any vehicle,' it reaches delivery vans and rideshare drivers stopping briefly to drop off a passenger or package just as much as a car parked for hours, and it applies citywide wherever the city has painted or signed a bicycle lane, including lanes built into corridors like East Cheryl Parkway and Seminole Highway. Fitchburg's bicycle-lane protection is narrower than its abandoned-bicycle ordinance in § 68-287, which governs unattended bikes rather than motor vehicles blocking a lane; the two provisions regulate different users of the same infrastructure and should not be read together as one rule.
