Fitchburg City Code § 68-216 targets the same 'large vehicle' the code defines in § 68-207: any automobile, truck, trailer, truck power unit, bus, recreational vehicle, or combination of vehicles that either exceeds 8,000 pounds gross vehicle weight and 16 feet in length, including racks and accessories, or stands taller than eight feet from the roadway to its highest point, excluding antennas. , and even a large vehicle that is legitimately working, hauling, digging, trimming, or loading and unloading goods still cannot occupy the same spot for more than two hours inside that overnight window.

The exception only covers a vehicle directly engaged in that work; parking a semi-tractor or box truck at the curb overnight simply because the driver lives nearby, or because it is more convenient than a private lot, does not qualify. The rule sits apart from § 68-217's separate restriction on motor homes and trailers, which is framed around a 24-hour permit system rather than a nightly clock, so a landscaping contractor's dump truck and a resident's camper are regulated on two different tracks even though both count as oversized vehicles under the code's general definitions.
