Bradenton, FL Mobility & Curb Rules: Red-Light Cameras (2026)

Two articles of Chapter 50 of the Bradenton Code of Ordinances cover photo enforcement in the City of Bradenton, Manatee County. Article III, § 50-81, provides for and authorizes the administration and implementation of F.S. § 316.0083, the state red-light camera statute, and says the statute controls if the city's rules ever conflict with it. The Bradenton Police Department, with help from public works and the city clerk's office if needed, selects the locations for the traffic infraction detectors. Fines are paid at the Bradenton Police Department, at another location the city council authorizes, or, when the state statute provides, to the clerk of the county court.

Article IV, § 50-82, covers speed detection systems in school zones. It relies on F.S. § 316.008(9), states that the article gives a supplemental means of enforcing speed limits, and says an officer can still issue a uniform traffic citation. The city exercises its authority to place or install the systems on roadways maintained as school zones, any contract must be approved by city council, and the chief of police or designee implements the systems consistent with Florida Department of Transportation placement and installation specifications.

Subsection (c) records the council's finding of a heightened safety risk and lists the school zones by name and address, including Manatee Elementary School at 1609 Sixth Avenue East, Bradenton Christian School at 3304 43rd Street West, Ballard Elementary School at 912 18th Street West, Sea Breeze Elementary School at 3601 71st Street West, Manatee High School at 902 33rd Street Court West and others. The chief of police or designee provides notices of violation, assesses penalties and provides for appeals, posts signage and runs a public awareness campaign, and complies with the state reporting requirements. The code prints no camera count, vendor or fine amount, so those details sit in council contracts and the cited state statutes.
