Full Breakdown
Gwinnett's animal ownership ordinance makes it a violation for an owner or property occupant to let an animal vocalize for more than 15 minutes without interruption, or more than 30 minutes intermittently, if the sound is plainly audible to someone of ordinary hearing off the property, unless the animal is warning of a trespasser. Officers don't need a sound meter to enforce it. The animal welfare division first sends the owner a written notice and ten days to fix the disturbance; a second complaint with a notarized statement can lead to a citation. Violating the limit is punishable by a fine up to $1,000.
Violations & Fines
A confirmed violation of the 15/30-minute vocalization limit is punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000 per Sec. 10-7(b)(7), after the owner gets written notice and a ten-day chance to fix it.
