LMC 10.12.300(B)(13) lists construction activity as one of the specific acts the city treats as a noise disturbance when it falls outside the permitted window. The rule covers erection, excavation, demolition, alteration and repair of buildings in residential, apartment, hotel and business districts, and the allowed hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays only, meaning no exempt Saturday or Sunday work. An exception exists only for urgent necessity in the interest of public safety and convenience, and that exception requires approval from the office of the mayor before the work happens; any weekend-work approval must be submitted to the city's department of public works for processing under LMC 2.44.040.

Outside this specific carve-out, construction noise also remains subject to the general noise-disturbance prohibition in LMC 10.12.300(A) and the maximum permissible environmental noise levels set in LMC 10.12.500, so daytime construction that is unreasonably loud within the permitted hours can still be cited.
