Sauk County, WI Noise Ordinances: Construction Hours (2026)

Chapter 7's telecommunications facility standards, not a general noise ordinance, are where Sauk County's only construction-hours rule sits. Section 7.144 governs the structural, design, and environmental standards for new mobile service support structures, class 1 and class 2 collocations, and related facilities regulated under Sections 7.137 through 7.145, and its subsection (5) on noise and traffic requires that noise-producing construction activities on those facilities take place only Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., except in times of emergency repair.

The same subsection separately restricts backup generators at these sites to operation only during power outages and for maintenance and testing. The hours rule applies to the siting and construction of new mobile service support structures and class 1 collocations permitted under Section 7.140's conditional use permit process, and to class 2 collocations permitted under Section 7.141's county land use permit process, but the county's zoning code does not extend a parallel hours restriction to ordinary residential or commercial construction elsewhere in unincorporated Sauk County.

Enforcement of Section 7.144 runs through the same Chapter 7 procedures and administration subchapter that governs the rest of the zoning code, with the Zoning Administrator responsible for investigating complaints under Section 7.147 and the Corporation Counsel authorized to prosecute violations under Section 7.155.
