Wellington, FL Noise Ordinances: Construction Hours (2026)

Section 13-7(E) of Wellington's Code of Ordinances prohibits operating machinery, demolition equipment, construction equipment, excavating equipment, power tools or other semi-mechanical devices, or undertaking construction work or land clearing, when the sound crosses the property line into inhabited residential land during set hours: 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. The prohibition covers warm-ups, maintenance and loading or unloading of equipment, not just active operation, so a contractor idling machinery before a 7:00 a.m. start is already in the restricted window.

Sunday gets its own, stricter rule: all machinery operation and construction work, including grading, site preparation, assembly, erection, substantial repair, alteration or demolition of a building or structure, is prohibited anytime on Sunday, with no evening cutoff at all. The section carves out two exceptions: individuals performing home repair or maintenance can work between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, and equipment that by its nature must run around the clock, such as certain pumps, is not barred from 24-hour operation. Section 13-6(G) separately exempts golf course maintenance equipment run between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., but that exemption does not extend to construction activities, machinery or equipment such as chain saws, which the exemption expressly excludes.
