Wellington, FL Noise Ordinances: Leaf Blower Rules (2026)

Section 13-7(F) of Wellington's Code of Ordinances prohibits operating lawn and garden equipment when the resulting sound emits across a property line onto inhabited residential land, except during specific hours. Monday through Saturday, that equipment can run between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.; on Sunday the window shrinks to 9:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., matching the same Sunday hours the Village allows for individual home repair work under the construction-noise section next door, Section 13-7(E). The provision does not define 'lawn and garden equipment' by type, so it reaches gas or electric leaf blowers, mowers, edgers, trimmers and similar equipment whenever their sound is loud enough to be plainly audible across a property line as defined in Section 13-5, meaning a landscaper blowing clippings into the street at 7:00 a.m. on a weekday, or running equipment after 8:00 p.m., is outside the permitted window even if the work itself is routine.

Because the standard turns on whether sound crosses into inhabited residential land, equipment used entirely on a commercial or vacant lot with no adjacent residence, or used inside the property's own boundary without crossing the line, falls outside this particular prohibition, though other code sections may still reach the underlying maintenance work. The rule sits in the same Article II noise chapter as the construction and amplified-sound prohibitions, and it is subject to the same exemptions in Section 13-6, none of which specifically covers lawn equipment.
