Full Breakdown

Section 21-106(B)'s Table 2 sets the citywide exterior sound-level grid by receiving-land category. Industrial Zone property lines may not receive more than 65 dBA for pure tones, cyclically varying, or quasi-steady sounds, or 70 dBA for all other sounds, and, unusually, that ceiling holds around the clock, since industrial areas get no nighttime reduction the way residential and commercial zones do. If a dwelling predates the noise source in an industrial zone, the limit tightens by 5 dBA daytime and 10 dBA at night once police receive a complaint.
