Bulloch County, GA Noise Ordinances: Leaf Blower Rules (2026)

Gas-powered leaf blowers and similar lawn equipment sit inside the exceptions article of Bulloch County's noise ordinance, Sec. 10-138, rather than being separately banned. Subsection (8) exempts the operation of lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, blowers, power-driven hedge shears, and other domestic power-operated equipment from the general noise prohibitions in Sec. 10-136 and Sec. m. , or with a broken or missing muffler, loses the exemption and falls back under the county's general noise prohibition at Sec. 10-136, which bans any loud, unnecessary or unusual sound audible 100 feet or more from its source that disturbs a reasonable person's comfort, peace or repose.

That means a landscaping crew or homeowner running blowers before dawn, or with equipment that has lost its muffler, can be cited even though the equipment itself is otherwise lawful. The rule applies only in the unincorporated county; Statesboro and the other municipalities set their own hours if any. A violation is punished under Sec. 10-140's cross-reference to the general penalty at Sec. 00 fine, up to 60 days in jail, or both, with continuing violations counted day by day.
