Rockdale County, GA Noise Ordinances: Leaf Blower Rules (2026)

Section 42-1(a) defines "lawn equipment" (printed in the Code as "lawn equipement") to mean any diesel, gasoline, mixed fuel or electric powered mower, blower, edger, chipper/shredder, lawn tractor, saw, tiller or stumpgrinder, or other similar machine, folding leaf blowers into the same category as mowers and tillers rather than singling them out. , a nine-hour nightly window that applies every day of the week, weekday or weekend alike, with no seasonal exception and no separate rule for gas-powered versus battery or electric machines. The provision sits in Article I of Chapter 42, Environment, alongside the county's amplified-sound, construction-hours and vehicle-noise rules, all of which share the section's "plainly audible" vocabulary even though subsection (i) itself turns only on the clock, not on audibility at the property line.

The Code traces the rule to Code 1978, § 9-1004, later amended by Ord. No. 2007-21 (2007) and Ord. No. 0-2010-05 (2010). to finish a yard is a violation even if the work is nearly done. Complaints go to the Department of Planning and Development's code enforcement officers or Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputies, who can issue a citation based on the time of operation alone.
