Lee County, NC Noise Ordinances: Quiet Hours (2026)

The Lee County Code's quiet-hours rule lives inside the camping regulations for county parks and recreation areas at Sec. 18-35(d), not in a standalone noise chapter. Subsection (11) sets the hours plainly: quiet hours shall be observed between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. The following subsection, (12), backs the same curfew for visitors: anyone visiting a registered camper must observe regular park users' hours, and if a visitor wants to stay past closing they must register with the park manager, but their vehicle must be parked outside the park entrance, and in no event may a visitor remain in the park after 11:00 p.m.

At San-Lee Educational and Recreational Park, the separate park-specific article layers on its own noise rule at Sec. 18-63(1)(d), barring excessively noisy conduct at any time and calling out the hours between 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. as the period rangers watch most closely, with expulsion left to the park ranger's discretion. Both quiet-hours provisions are tied to county park and campground property; the code the county published does not contain a freestanding, countywide residential noise ordinance restricting noise levels or hours on private property throughout unincorporated Lee County.

Sec. 18-36 separately lets the parks director close any park, or part of one, at any time the director judges necessary for safety or security, which can extend beyond the posted quiet hours. The Department of Parks and Recreation enforces these camping and noise rules directly through park staff.
